A Great Way to Build Your Portfolio
By Roberta Beach Jacobson in Karpathos, Greece

OnAJunket.com is a hip travel website geared toward the younger traveler. If you have traveled the world -- or just your neighborhood -- and have something extraordinary to tell about your experience, OnAJunket would like to hear from you.

The editor runs travel tales of 500 to 2000 words. He also publishes photos, art, and cartoons. The articles at this monthly ezine read as first-person accounts in a "tell-all" adventure style. According to OnAJunket's own description, this website is "a great venue for aspiring writers wishing to gain exposure."

OnAJunket.com is a fun place to visit... particularly if you like stories that are a little off-beat. The stories you'll find here define travel with all its ups and downs. The editor is looking for honest experiences... without the sugar coating.

The website's stories are divided by global region -- North America, Central America, South America, Europe, etc. You'll find an archive of 2007 articles here: http://onajunket.com/storiesportal.html

Or you can read them issue-by-issue as they appear here in the archive:

http://www.onajunket.com/stories_time.htm.

If you don't have a full-length travel article to submit, you might consider sending in a travel tip. Again, this section is divided into the destinations, and within destination the tips are further categorized by city.

You'll find full guidelines at:

http://www.onajunket.com/submission%20page.html

If you'd like to submit a photo or series of photos to this site, they accept them with or without an article.

Photos should be 739 pixels wide and the file size shouldn't be larger than 200k. Remember to include information on where the photos were taken.

One photographer worth checking out is Burnblue, you'll find a stunning series of photos taken in California at: http://www.onajunket.com/photos/travel_layouts/cali_burnblue/ca_burnblue.html. I saw some photos from Sweden and Berlin, too, which are worth a look.

The article submission guidelines are quite simple. You just submit a word document that includes: the destination of the story, a catchy title (or headline), your first name, your last name and an email address to: submit@onajunket.com.

According to the Writer's Guidelines "All stories submitted will be published online at OnAJunket.com"... this seems like a very big promise. Why don't you give it a shot... after all -- there's nothing to lose and you may snag an easy by-line.
