DEVOUT FOOD LOVERS NEEDED
By Bonnie Caton in Portland, Oregon

Food Worshipers Beware: Some of the photos, videos, and sensual language strewn across CulinaryMediaNetwork.com may well make you drool.

From the blushing red strawberry dripping chocolate on the front page to the travel and food stories about pumpkins and pastries, cocktails and wine, cheese and polenta... this site is full of guilt-inspiring culinary pleasures behind every link.

"Show me a devout food lover, and I'll show you a committed sensualist," says Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Iannolo, who dubs her writers "food philosophers," though strives not to be pretentious or stuffy.

If you consider yourself a food philosopher or, like me, you can't separate your love of food from your daily life, then you should try your hand at writing for Culinary Media Network.

The focus of this site isn't so much on what's new and hot in the food industry as it is on the intimate, sensual experience that comes with tasting food and wine.

Culinary Media Network publishes freelance articles in a section it calls "Gastronomic Meditations." These run 600-800 words long and are personal narratives about an intimate experience you've had with food. Think: childhood food memories, new experiences, food and travel, etc. When you write an article for this section, keep in mind that it should emphasize exploration and a personal connection with food on a deeper level.

After reading through a good portion of the site to familiarize yourself with content and, of course, closely following the writer's guidelines, you can submit your article by email to: editor@culinarymedianetwork.com.

If food is a way of life for you, you'll have no trouble reading through the Gastronomic Meditations on the site... but I wouldn't suggest doing it on an empty stomach.

You'll find the Writer's Guidelines here.

And you can learn more about food writing, or adding more food into your travel articles, here.
