Two Julys ago, when Roy Stevenson came to the Ultimate Travel Writer's Workshop in Portland, Oregon, he'd never had an article published. Today, just two years later, he's been published 340 times... and some of his articles have made him as much as $1,800 a pop.

This year, he's back as a speaker instead of an attendee. And today he revealed his biggest secret...

The truth, he told us, is that he didn't write 340 articles. In fact, he wrote less than half that -- only about 150.

His technique for making $1,800 on a single article (while saving time and effort) is simply selling it over and over again to different publications.

That, he said, is his main key to success. Here are two more:

** 1. When an editor accepts your article idea, of course you'll need to write the article and send it in on time. But before you hit "send," think of another article that editor might want and include a new pitch in your message. Roy said that more than half of the editors accept his second pitch this way. NOTE: Don't pitch two NEW ideas at the same time, right out of the gate. Only pitch a new idea once you've submitted the first article.

** 2. If you want to sell more, be flexible. If an editor likes your pitch, but suggests a different angle, just say yes. Roy's motto is "Whatever the editor wants, the editor gets."
