| What is your current occupation? |
| Freelance Writer |
| |
| What are you studying at AWAI (travel writing,
photography, import/export, or all three)? |
| All three - plus catalog copywriting, copywriting, resume writing |
| |
| What was your first successful article or photo about
and where did it appear? |
| My first published article was "Searching for Treasures in Beaver Creek" It covered the Rocky Mountain Antique Festival and was published in touristtravel.com, then goColorado.com shortly after that. |
|
|
| |
| What are you working on now? |
| I'm working on an article about romantic Santa Fe. |
| |
| What has been your proudest writing, photography, or
import/export moment? |
| I was ecstatic to get my first article published. Recently, my first photo was published on Travellady.com. That was a very good day as well. |
| |
| Please give us an example of how your life has
changed since becoming a travel writer, photographer, or
import-exporter. |
| It's all happened so fast - its only been six months since my first article has published. I got a nice discount on my hotel rooms in Santa Fe, free champagne and free museum admissions - it all made me feel like a real travel writer. My husband benefited from it all too - no complaints from him! |

| What success tip would you like to share with your
fellow AWAI members? |
I can't recommend Accelerated Training Services enough. Writing articles and submitting queries was like throwing darts into the wind before I signed up with them, and now everything I'm submitting is getting accepted everywhere I try. (Thanks, Wendy!)
[Editor's note: This service from Accelerated Training Services is no longer available.] |
| |
| When did you realize you were living the writer’s or
photographer’s life? |
| When I received my first check for a travel article! I made a color copy of it and framed it to remind me of the milestone. |
